Convert, index and set up your microfilm library

The technology behind the use of microfilm is basically a photographic process, where negative or positive film images of a document are captured, processed and indexed. The commercial use of microfilm is worldwide with many accepted British and International standards, illustrating its’ long history and proven track record.

The archival nature and legal acceptability of microfilm is undisputed whilst other digital storage formats lack the regulatory certification or accepted standing of microfilm.  Hence its’ an obvious advantage in saving space of up to 98%, once the paper originals are destroyed after filming.  It is the only long term archival medium with an expected life span in excess of 100 years and expected to be migratable with future advances in technology.

Microfilm suits a wide variety of applications for both live records management and archive management. With the advent of today’s digital information explosion, the use of microfilm has progressed further to create hybrid systems which migrate digital scanned images and analog microfilm images all on the same database.  With these advancements, the use of hybrid systems provides protection from technology obsolescence whilst benefiting from the best of both digital and analog formats.
